Talk 2 of leadership talks for a balanced europe 2019

 Talk 2 – 25 June 2019 (12.00-14.00 pm)

The “LEADERSHIP TALKS – Building Inclusion & Gender Balance in Europe”are inspirational lunchtime conferences (12.30-14.00), at the European School of Administration (EUSA). They bring together business leaders who have inspiring track-records and experience as Inclusive Leaders; and are designed to be learning & interactive exchanges between these speakers and the participants (top and middle –men and women- managers in the EU institutions and agencies).

The program and the Talks are facilitated by Leadership expert and author Claudia de Castro Caldeirinha, and is co-designed by the EUSA and the REDSCOPE team.

 

Top Leaders of the Second Talk  (25 June) were: 

Dirk Van Gerven

Managing partner of NautaDutilh

Partner and Managing Partner of the Brussels office of NautaDutilh, an international firm operational in the Benelux.

Dirk has served as president or a board member of many associations and institutions. He currently presides over the supervisory board of the Financial Services and Markets Authority and acts as vice president of the Belgian mediation and arbitration institute. He is a past president of the Brussels Bar.

He publishes frequently on selected topics in the fields of corporate and financial law, is the author of several treatises, and wrote a book on gender equality in professional life (“Alle mensen zijn gelijk, ook vrouwen”). He is the editor of several books and a regular keynote speaker in international events.

Dirk is an outspoken advocate for the equal treatment of men and women throughout their professional careers.

Pastora Valero

Vice President at CISCO Systems

Pastora Valero is Vice President, Public Policy and Government Affairs, for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia (EMEAR) for Cisco Systems Inc., the global leader for networking for the Internet. She leads government affairs activities for Cisco in the EMEAR region and is responsible for developing and advancing Cisco’s technology and communications policy agenda with respect to broadband, Internet governance, IP enabled services, trade, energy and technology policy issues. She joined Cisco in 2003, and prior to her regional role, she led Cisco’s European Union Government Affairs strategy between 2003 and 2013. Pastora has almost two decades of experience in regulatory and public policy issues in the telecommunications and Internet related areas, as well as on EU public policy with respect to competition, trade and information technology regulation.

Prior to Cisco, she was Vice-President Regulatory Affairs for Global TeleSystems (GTS), a pan-European fibre optic network operator. She started her career with the Brussels law firm Van Bael & Bellis and dealt in particular with EU trade and competition law issues. Pastora holds leadership positions within several industry organizations including as Chair of the Digital Economy Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce to the E.U., and Board member of the Trans-Atlantic Business Council (TABC). She is a qualified lawyer in Spain, holds a master’s degree in European law (ULB, Brussels) and an L.L.M in International law (VUB, Brussels).

Dirk Luyten

Managing Director, Levante Capital Management

Dirk P. Luyten has more than 20 years of experience in strategic management consulting as Managing Partner at Arthur D Little and Accenture. For nearly a decade, he has been an investor and a CEO in small retail companies. He currently holds various Board Memberships, collaborates with Diversity and Performance and is a Member of the Exco of the IAA Woman in Business Club. He has worked and lived in Brussels, Madrid and Tokyo. He holds a master’s degree in law and a master’s degree in economics from the state University of Ghent, Belgium.

He is an INSEAD MBA (89J) and holds from INSEAD a Certificate in Leadership Excellence through Awareness and Practice (LEAP, 2015) and a Certificate in Strategy in the Age of Digital Disruption (2016).
